If you want to enroll in the dental school, then you have to take the Dental Admissions Test, otherwise known as DAT. If you pass the DAT, then you will be allowed to send in your application for admission to your chosen dental school. You have to get a passing mark when you take the said examination.

Look for a dental school once you get a notice that you passed the Dental Admissions Test. The dental school is the academic institution where you can learn a lot about dentistry. You need to send an application to the said school if you want to enroll.

You need to stay in the school for the whole duration of your coursework. At most, you will have to stay for four years before you get your dentistry diploma. Work hard during the entire four years in the said school. You need to get good grades since this will affect your standing in the professional world in the future.

The first two years of your coursework will be for classroom lectures and similar setting. However, the latter half of your coursework will require you to do simple dental treatment and conduct practical hands-on operations. You can take advantage of such experiences to help you out in your future endeavors.

Obtain a license to become a professional. If you wish to be a professional, this is an imperative requirement for you. You will not be allowed to do anything major related to your practice if you do not have the license. You can get the license by passing the state examination as administered by the right authority.

It is up to you to decide where you want to work once you obtain your license. If you want to become an independent professional, then starting up your own clinic at a good location is not such a bad idea. To those who want to work in a good environment, better look for well-established hospitals and clinics then. You may even send in your application to become a full-time dental professional in schools or companies.
