The Facts On Mitochondrial DNA And Aging

Several years ago, scientists started to believe that aging is primarily caused by the mitochondrial DNA. If this type of gene gets damaged, then you would be able to see the effects directly on your skin. However, there is still a lot of argument going on with this matter. Thus, be able to know the truth behind this claimed theory courtesy of this short yet informative article.

Truth be told, the theory is not bulletproof. It has some flaws and other scientists were able to notice that. For example, mitochondrial DNA and aging may be related to each other but the former would only have an effect on the latter under well planned situations such as an implied mutation and that can only happen in a lab.

A mouse has been fortunate to undergo this kind of process. It has experienced old age after just a few minutes. However, the scientists in charge of the operation have applied a wide range of medical tools on the animal before they were able to perfect such a crucial act. Thus, never try this at home or even with your children.

There are actually a lot of theories which have already been formed regarding the process of aging. One of them is the mitochondrial theory. It is based on a wide range of observations including the fact that this genetic material continue to mutate as the years go by.

On the other hand, the only fault that this gene has is its participation in the increase of the oxidation stress level in your body. It may be a tiny object but it can easily amplify and mediate the level under specific circumstances. However, keep in mind that as the owner of your body, you actually have full knowledge on what is stressing it out. There are a lot of things that you would be able to do to fight these factors. You would just have to do them at your own will.

Also, mitochondria is not the only villain in here. In fact, the gene helps transport signals into your brain and it is definitely a contributing factor to your overall digestion process. It is not there in your body for nothing. It just have to stay in its normal stage for you to maintain your young and vibrant appearance in the years to come.

Yes, the gene may cause some of your cells to die but it is not the main cause for that condition. You have your unhealthy lifestyle to blame for at one point. You also have the natural course of your body to be held responsible for all of those wrinkles which have already started appearing on your face.

If your hormones are off the charts, then you can expect aging to come your way sooner than you expected as well. Thus, be able to prevent that from happening courtesy of all the vitamins in the market. Have proper hygiene to help you in the battle as well.

As a final verdict, the DNA has no direct effect on the way a human body grows old in time. It may be a contributing factor but then you are in full control on how you want your system to function. Thus, be able to take care of it to the best of your abilities.
